Just steps away from 455 Central Park West is New York City’s jewel, Central Park.

In the 1850s, New Yorkers who had admired the public grounds of London and Paris in their travels urged that New York should have a similar feature. In response, Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux designed Central Park as a pastoral landscape in the English romantic tradition.

Spanning two and a half miles from 59th Street to 110th Street and half a mile from Fifth Avenue to Eighth Avenue, Central Park is home to lakes, tennis courts and playing fields, as well as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Central Park Zoo, Wollman Rink, and the famed restaurant, Tavern on the Green.
